COMMON QUESTIONS

Before the next step.

Useful answers for planning an ECU, TCU or tuning enquiry.

What should I send for a quote?

Your registration, postcode, requested service and a short description of the fault or goal. For cloning, add clear photographs of the original and replacement unit labels. You can attach those photographs in WhatsApp.

Where are you based?

Northern Calibration enquiries are handled by Precision Remaps UK from Burton upon Trent. Workshop visits and postal deliveries must be arranged before arrival or dispatch.

Do you cover the far north of the UK?

Yes, approved postal module work can be arranged across the UK, including Scotland, the Highlands and islands. Courier charges and availability are checked by address. Mobile attendance is separately quoted and subject to availability.

Do you need both the original and replacement units?

For a normal cloning transfer, yes. Clearly label the units OLD / ORIGINAL and NEW / REPLACEMENT. We will confirm exactly what is required before you send them.

Can a replacement unit simply be plugged in?

That depends on the controller. Supported clones may preserve the data needed for a direct replacement, while others need adaptation, coding or basic settings. Donor compatibility must be checked first.

Can you help if the original has no communication?

Potentially. Some failed units still contain recoverable memory. Tell us what happened and send the labels. The assessment establishes what is accessible; recovery is not guaranteed.

Do you guarantee a fixed power increase?

No. A realistic estimate is discussed for the exact vehicle, fuel, modifications and condition. Measured results require the appropriate testing.

How much will the work cost?

Specialist work is quoted after the controller and scope have been identified. The quote explains the service, any diagnostic or access work, applicable VAT and any delivery or travel charges.

Is a quote a confirmed booking?

No. Availability, the agreed work and the booking arrangements are confirmed with you before an appointment or postal job is accepted.
