A replacement ECU.
Your vehicle’s identity.
Supported data transfer from your original engine control unit into a compatible replacement. For non-starts, failed ECUs and donor-unit installations.
Identify the route before the repair.
Compatibility comes first
Send clear photographs of both ECU labels before buying or posting a donor. We check the control-unit family, hardware, software and available transfer method.
Transfer the required data
Where the controller supports it, the job can include application software, calibration, EEPROM, immobiliser information and configuration. The memory areas required vary by ECU.
Verify before return
We check the write and explain any remaining installation, coding or adaptation requirements. A bench verification cannot replace final checks on the vehicle.
Is this the right service?
- Original ECU has lost communication
- Water or electrical damage to the original unit
- Used replacement causes an immobiliser non-start
- Vehicle-specific data needs preserving
Make the first message useful.
- Registration, make, model and engine
- Original and donor ECU label photographs
- Fault codes and the history of the failure
- Details of previous mapping or programming
Know what the job covers.
A tuning read is not necessarily a full cloning backup. We confirm that the necessary original data is recoverable and that the donor can accept it. Some controllers require adaptation rather than a direct clone.
What owners ask.
Can every ECU be cloned?
No. Security, memory layout, processor, programming support and donor compatibility all affect the route. We identify the exact units before accepting the job.
Will a clone be plug and play?
On a supported direct-transfer job, it may be. Other controllers need additional coding, adaptation or installation checks. The agreed quote explains the required route.
My original ECU is completely dead. Can you help?
Send the labels and failure history. Loss of normal communication does not always mean the memory is lost, but recovery cannot be promised until the original is assessed.
Evidence, electronic work and vehicle checks.
Understand the agreed assessment or replacement route, then coordinate the required installation work.
Scope the complete job.
What the transfer is intended to preserve
A replacement-data job is scoped around the information the application needs to retain. That can involve more than the calibration used for tuning. The technician checks the relevant software, vehicle identity and configuration requirements for the exact unit. A “full read” description or a matching part number on its own does not establish that the complete job is possible.
What changes when the original is damaged
Normal diagnostic silence, physical damage and missing original hardware are different situations. Send the original unit’s condition and previous attempts before buying another donor. We may need to assess recoverable data first. If the necessary information cannot be obtained, the normal transfer route cannot be promised; another supported replacement approach may need considering.
What you and the installer receive
The accepted quote defines the transfer, the verification available for the operation and the handover. Ask whether further coding or adaptation is needed and who will complete it. The original electrical, wiring or water-ingress fault must be resolved before refitting. Keep both the original unit and your backups until the vehicle-side repair has been checked.
Start with the symptom.

Send the registration, postcode and details of the work you need.
