Understand what the accepted module work covered
Keep the agreed scope and return information with the original repair record. The installer needs to know which unit is being fitted, what data work was carried out and any requirements explained for that controller.
Verification of a write on a removed unit does not replace the final vehicle checks. Ask about the handover before dispatch, especially where another garage will complete the installation.
Use the procedure for the identified application
Coding, basic settings and adaptation are application-specific. Ross-Tech’s DSG 0AM guidance, for example, describes replacement coding and a defined basic-setting process, and explicitly warns that the procedure does not apply to other transmissions.
That is why a broad description such as DSG is insufficient for the installation plan. The installer should use the correct vehicle and transmission information, rather than copying a generic procedure from a different controller.
Keep the original vehicle fault in view
Include the findings that led to replacement and the repairs made alongside the module work. If there was water ingress, a wiring problem or mechanical damage, record how that issue was addressed.
After installation, retain the diagnostic results and the observed behaviour. If a concern remains, describe whether it matches the original symptom or is something new. That helps the next discussion stay connected to the actual repair.
Make the installer handover complete
Before a postal job is accepted, name the person or garage responsible for refitting and final checks. Share any diagnostic access or scheduling constraints that affect the route.
Northern Calibration enquiries go to Precision Remaps UK. For owners and garages in northern England or Scotland, agree the electronic scope, return arrangements and installer responsibilities together so the long-distance job has a practical finish.
