Cloning is considered for a replacement job
A TCU cloning enquiry concerns an original controller and a proposed replacement. Its purpose is to assess whether the relevant original data can be transferred to a compatible donor for that vehicle.
Send both labels, the gearbox identification, fault report and the work the installer is carrying out. Say whether the units are separate electronics or complete mechatronic assemblies. The electronic scope must be agreed around the actual replacement.
Gearbox tuning concerns the calibration brief
A gearbox tuning enquiry starts with a supported transmission and a driving goal. Owners may want to discuss shift behaviour, response or how transmission calibration relates to the current engine software.
Include the engine map, modifications, gearbox service history and current symptoms. Requested features depend on the identified controller and software. Explain the use of the vehicle rather than requesting a generic setting without its context.
A fault still needs diagnosis
Slipping, pressure problems, judder or warning messages need a useful diagnostic handover. Neither transferring identity data nor discussing a tuning brief establishes the mechanical condition of a gearbox.
If a repair and calibration are both being considered, distinguish them in the message. Tell us which parts have been replaced, which tests were completed and what remains for the installer. Additional services can be selected in the enquiry form.
Ask for the scope that matches your job
For replacement work, ask about compatibility, data requirements and the remaining coding or adaptation. For tuning, send the vehicle specification and the result you want to discuss. These are different quotes even where the same family of programming equipment is used.
Precision Remaps UK handles Northern Calibration enquiries, with workshop, approved postal and suitable mobile arrangements assessed by job and postcode. Send the controller information before booking or dispatch.
Send the information that helps.
- Replacement job or calibration goal
- Vehicle and transmission identity
- Original / donor labels where relevant
- Engine software and gearbox history
- Diagnostic findings and installer plan
