Identify the actual car and engine version

Send registration, year, factory output and the full specification. B58 applications span different hardware and controller generations. A model name and a social-media power claim do not establish the access route or sensible target for your car.

State standard or modified hardware and include any dealer software updates. If previous programming is known, share the tuner and original-file information where available. The team needs the actual starting state.

Name fuel and supporting hardware

The fuel grade you intend to use belongs in the brief. List intake, cooling, turbo, fuel-system and exhaust changes with exact specifications. A target based on a different fuel or setup should not be treated as a direct prediction.

Share service history, faults and any existing logs or measured results. Misfire, boost control, cooling or other concerns require the appropriate investigation before increased performance is requested.

Define the transmission behaviour

Identify the transmission and include servicing, current TCU software and symptoms. Supported xHP or other calibration choices are application-specific. Describe daily shifts and response you want rather than assuming the gearbox stage must equal the engine stage.

Engine and transmission strategies can be discussed together. That coordination does not establish mechanical health or make every software feature universal. Any existing slip, vibration or harsh shift needs its own diagnostic history.

Confirm access and the whole appointment

Exact ECU hardware and software decide current access. A protected-controller procedure can affect location, time and scope. The team checks the route before promising mobile work or accepting a removed ECU.

Ask for engine calibration, transmission work, access and agreed checks to be listed in the quote. Include full postcode, desired dates and whether a workshop visit is practical. Keep the accepted fuel requirements and software record after handover.

Questions about this enquiry

Will a B58 badge confirm the programming method?

No. Hardware, software and vehicle generation must be identified.

Should I automatically choose the same engine and gearbox stage?

No. Gearbox stages describe a separate product and desired behaviour. The exact supported route guides the choice.
