Start with the vehicle you have
A Stage 1 enquiry should identify the exact engine, ECU, transmission and current hardware. The registration is a starting point, but mileage, service condition, previous tuning and modifications also help establish suitability.
Tell us about any warning lights, unusual running, clutch slip or gearbox behaviour. Those issues need consideration before additional load is requested. Calibration should be planned around a healthy vehicle and a realistic brief.
Describe the result you want
For one owner the goal is stronger everyday acceleration. For another it is smoother low-speed torque, motorway use or towing. A modified vehicle needs its hardware set out clearly so the software can be scoped to the actual specification.
Power and torque are vehicle-specific estimates, not a promise attached to a badge. Fuel, hardware, software and condition affect the result. A measured figure requires appropriate testing; a generic claim cannot establish what your vehicle will achieve.
Consider transmission strategy as part of the job
Where supported, gearbox calibration can be discussed alongside engine tuning. Shift behaviour, torque strategy and response need to make sense for the particular engine and transmission combination.
Not every transmission supports the same features. The exact TCU and software matter, and a map cannot repair worn clutches or a hydraulic fault. Share the gearbox service history and any existing codes when asking for a combined quote.
Agree access, location and follow-up
The ECU or TCU may use a supported vehicle-socket route or need additional specialist access. This affects the job scope and whether the vehicle should attend the workshop or can be handled on a suitable mobile appointment.
Precision Remaps UK offers nationwide scheduled mobile coverage, quoted from the registration and postcode. Send the specification and your preferred outcome through Northern Calibration. We will discuss the appropriate engine and gearbox options, practical route and availability.
