Read the status with the complete row

A cloning status belongs to the identified controller entry and its listed conditions. Brand, family, access, notes and donor requirements must be read together. The status is not a universal permission to clone every similar-looking unit.

For an enquiry, send the complete original and replacement labels and the intended operation. We check current support and the actual units. A static article explaining the legend should not be mistaken for a live compatibility confirmation.

Direct transfer and external-memory work

The vendor’s direct-transfer status indicates a route using the original backup or the applicable memories on a compatible replacement. An external-EEPROM condition can add physical memory work where the specified EEPROM operation is not supported by the tool.

Those descriptions still leave original readability, donor suitability and installation checks to be established. A tuning read that captures only calibration should not automatically be treated as the data set required by a cloning operation.

Staff and service routes

A staff-assisted entry calls for vendor-support processing of the relevant dumps. A service-assisted entry uses the vendor’s stated processing service. These can add file preparation, processing and a separate stage to the scope.

Tell us what information and units are available before asking for a turnaround. The technician must confirm that the files and controller pairing suit the current route. The existence of a service entry does not prove that damaged original data can be recovered.

Not tested and no solution are distinct

A not-tested entry means functional cloning has not been validated for the stated case; it should not be marketed as an assured result. A no-solution entry states that the vendor does not currently list a cloning solution for that type.

Neither label should be silently converted into “plug and play”. Other tools or application-specific replacement procedures may need assessing, but any proposed route should be supported by actual evidence and clearly scoped.

Turn the status into a useful enquiry

Send labels, diagnostic identification, the original’s condition and any available backup. Include the exact replacement work, registration, postcode and installer contact. Ask what data processing, access and verification are included.

Support, units, price and arrangements are confirmed before booking or dispatch. The legend helps frame the question; the actual accepted job comes from checking the controller, required operation and available original information.

Questions about this enquiry

Does 1-to-1 mean any donor is acceptable?

No. The exact row conditions, original data and donor compatibility still matter.

Can “not tested” be sold as a guaranteed clone?

It should be described as unvalidated for that stated case. A functional result must not be assumed from the label.
