Confirm the job before the unit travels
A postal service can be a practical route when a vehicle is immobilised, already dismantled or with a local garage. Start by sending the registration, postcode, symptoms and clear controller-label photographs.
For cloning, the original and donor need checking together. We confirm the required parts, supported method and scope before accepting dispatch. Buying a donor first can create an avoidable compatibility problem.
Package for electronics, not just for weight
Protect the connectors and electronics against movement and impact. Use suitable antistatic protection and enough cushioning inside a rigid outer package. Photograph the unit labels and condition before packing.
Clearly mark OLD / ORIGINAL and NEW / REPLACEMENT and include the agreed job reference, name, contact details, registration and return address. A complete mechatronic assembly may require additional preparation; ask for the relevant packing instructions first.
Check the return route for your postcode
For the Highlands, islands and other remote areas, courier availability, cost and transit times can differ. Share the full address before the job is agreed so dispatch and return arrangements can be planned.
Use tracked, appropriately insured delivery and retain the reference. Turnaround for the workshop work and the courier transit are different parts of the schedule; both should be considered if a vehicle is waiting at another garage.
Coordinate with the installer
A postal controller job does not always include the final vehicle-side work. The installer may need to correct the original fault, perform adaptation or basic settings, and carry out final diagnostic checks after refitting.
Northern Calibration supports enquiries from Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Carlisle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and the wider UK through Precision Remaps UK’s Burton upon Trent base. Postal jobs are accepted individually; mobile visits are separately quoted by postcode and availability.
