Confirm the actual starting behaviour
Record whether the engine starts briefly and cuts out, cranks without starting or does not crank. These are different symptoms. Send the full vehicle scan, including relevant engine and security-system information.
Ross-Tech’s P1570 reference describes start-and-stall behaviour for the applicable immobiliser fault and includes matching and ECU-supply issues among the possible causes. Its diagnostic context should not be applied to every VAG non-start without identifying the actual system.
Explain replacement and repair history
Tell us whether the fault appeared with the original ECU or only after a used replacement. Include work involving the keys, cluster, engine controller, supplies and any previous programming.
Preserve both controller labels and the scan from before replacement if available. A donor introducing a start-authorisation complaint may involve a different enquiry from an original ECU that was offline. The history helps select compatibility, configuration or electrical investigation.
Matching and supply need assessment
A key, cluster or controller relationship can be relevant, but a single code does not establish which item should be replaced. The technician needs the applicable diagnostic values, identity and power findings.
Use the procedure for the actual immobiliser generation and vehicle. A generic reset or an internet method for another application is not a complete replacement plan. This guide helps prepare the enquiry; it is not a universal adaptation instruction.
Do not assume a security-disable is the correct repair
An unresolved wiring, supply or compatibility problem still needs addressing. A replacement should preserve appropriate vehicle operation through a supported method rather than treating a security change as a cure for every symptom.
If original-data transfer is the proposed route, compatibility and necessary data need checking first. If adaptation is required, the installer’s applicable equipment and procedure should be part of the handover.
Send the evidence for the next step
Include registration, postcode, both labels, the exact starting behaviour and complete scan. Describe available originals or backups and who will carry out vehicle-side work.
The team can then discuss diagnosis, a compatible replacement-data assessment or another supported application-specific route. A website enquiry does not confirm that the ECU is the faulty part or that a direct clone will resolve the complete non-start.

Questions about this enquiry
Does P1570 prove a failed ECU?
No. Matching, the actual security system and supply findings need considering alongside the complete scan.
Does this guide apply to every no-crank or non-start?
No. Confirm the exact system and starting behaviour rather than assuming an immobiliser explanation.
