What does a remap cost?
Quote the complete work.
Send your vehicle details for a current price. The scope matters: calibration, controller access, condition, gearbox work and location.
Why two similar cars can need different quotes
The same model name can cover different controllers, software versions and drivetrains. A standard-hardware OBD appointment and a protected ECU with an unknown existing file have different starting requirements. Tell us the registration, modifications and programming history so the quote addresses the actual job.
A Stage 1, 2 or 3 label alone is not a full specification. For modified hardware, list the fitted parts and their specifications. If gearbox calibration is also wanted, identify the transmission and current ECU/TCU software. A combined enquiry makes that relationship clear.
What to check in the quotation
| Part of the job | Information used to scope it |
|---|---|
| Vehicle and controller | Exact engine, ECU/TCU, software and programming route. |
| Calibration scope | Standard hardware, installed upgrades, ECO, towing or transmission work. |
| Starting condition | Existing faults, unknown maps and any extra investigation required. |
| Verification | The checks and any logging or measurement agreed for the job. |
| Appointment | Workshop or suitable mobile location, travel and practical access. |
| Complete price | Applicable VAT, accepted access work and any separately quoted extras. |
Describe existing faults before choosing a package
Warning lights, limp mode, misfire, boost loss, clutch slip or poor shifts can mean diagnosis is the right first step. Include codes and findings already available. Calibration and gearbox tuning do not repair mechanical faults; any additional diagnostic work is discussed as part of the scope.
Ask about current availability and arrangements
The team confirms the full price, work and appointment route before booking. Send your postcode and preferred dates, and explain whether a Burton upon Trent workshop visit is possible. Suitable mobile availability and travel are quoted from the actual location.
Ask for the applicable service and software-warranty terms with the accepted work. A quote request does not reserve an appointment, and a proposed output is not a measured result. Keep the written scope and fuel requirements with the vehicle record.
Make the price easy to understand.
Can I get a price from the badge alone?
Send the registration, engine, gearbox, current software and hardware. Exact access and scope can differ between similarly named cars.
Is gearbox work automatically included in an engine quote?
Ask for both services explicitly. The supported transmission work and agreed price are confirmed separately within the combined scope.
How are travel or extra diagnostic costs handled?
The quotation explains location, applicable VAT and any accepted additional scope before the appointment is confirmed.
Give the quote a useful starting point.
Build a vehicle brief, compare your supplied performance figures, or understand what changes the price.
