Keep the complete transmission scan
Published ECU Testing information associates P1735 and P1736 with clutch-position sensor electrical faults, and P0805 with a clutch-position sensor circuit. Capture the exact code, description, status and gearbox identification from your own vehicle; generic readers and applications can present the information differently.
These codes provide a direction for assessment, rather than an automatic approval to replace or clone a unit. Send the rest of the scan, including associated faults. Record whether the symptom is current, intermittent or happened only before a recent repair or battery event.
Describe the lost function and operating conditions
State whether the warning appears when hot, whether a set of gears or reverse becomes unavailable, and what changes after restarting. Give mileage, service history and any recent mechatronic, clutch or gearbox work. This helps the specialist understand the complaint beyond the code number.
The vehicle should be handled according to its actual condition and the installer’s advice. Do not keep driving or deliberately reproduce a failure if the transmission is behaving unsafely. Existing safe observations and diagnostic evidence are enough to start a quotation discussion.
Compare repair assessment with donor transfer
If an electronic fault can be assessed and repaired, the original controller may remain part of the solution. If a replacement is needed, its identity and supported data route require a separate check. A programming protocol does not by itself establish a repair method for a sensor-related complaint.
Cloning transfers supported data into a compatible replacement; it does not replace a defective component or restore worn hydraulic and mechanical parts. Ask the team which scope is being considered for your exact electronics and whether any further transmission-specialist investigation is needed first.
Confirm the assembly and commissioning plan
Before removal or posting, ask whether the required part is the electronic controller or an accepted complete assembly. Send both labels if a donor is proposed. Preparation, fluid handling and packaging must be agreed for the parts involved; the general DSG name is insufficient.
The installer remains responsible for applicable refitting, fluid checks, basic settings and final vehicle diagnosis. Send Precision Remaps UK the registration, postcode, scan and condition history via Northern Calibration. Exact assessment support, price and availability are confirmed individually.

Send the information that helps.
- Full scan with P1735 / P1736 / P0805 descriptions and status
- Exact gearbox and original electronic-unit identity
- Hot / cold behaviour and unavailable gears
- Service, clutch, mechatronic and software history
- Donor labels if proposed and installer contact
Questions about this enquiry
Do these codes automatically mean I need a clone?
No. They describe a fault to investigate. Electronic repair assessment and replacement-data transfer are different possible scopes.
Can every DSG unit with these codes be repaired?
Support and repair feasibility are checked for the exact unit, condition and diagnosis. A code or family name cannot confirm acceptance.
