Build a baseline before changing the software

Record normal journeys, distance, fuel and load over a useful period. A dashboard average from one unusually favourable trip is not a complete baseline. Keep the method consistent so you can understand later differences.

Include urban driving, motorway use, idle time and payload. A change in route or driver can affect consumption independently of calibration. If fuel use has risen unexpectedly, discuss a diagnostic cause first.

Keep measurements comparable

When comparing periods, use the same distance and fuel measurement approach. Note changes in weather, route, tyres, load and driving. Differences between a short cold trip and a longer warm-engine journey should not be attributed solely to a map.

If you use a tank-to-tank record, keep receipts and distance readings and consider variation between individual fills. Several comparable observations are more useful than selecting the best number.

Discuss drivability as well as a saving

An economy-focused brief can address how the vehicle responds in its usual operation. Explain frequent shifts, response under a normal load or another practical concern. The calibration still has to suit the engine and gearbox.

We do not promise a fixed mpg increase or automatic payback. Driving harder after a performance change can affect any saving. An honest usage record helps the quotation focus on a realistic result.

Bring commercial context where relevant

For vans or fleets, describe payload, route, idle time and driver differences. Identify each vehicle rather than assuming one result transfers to all similar models. Give maintenance and fault history alongside the fuel record.

Send registration, engine, transmission, measured use and postcode. The team checks access and suitability before agreeing the work and can discuss diagnosis if the starting consumption appears abnormal.

Questions about this enquiry

Can I use one dashboard mpg reading as proof of a saving?

One reading has limited context. Compare consistent records across similar journeys and conditions.

Is a fixed economy saving guaranteed?

No. Condition, load, route, driving and measurement affect fuel use.
