Use the working specification

Send the registration, engine, factory output, gearbox and normal payload. A camper conversion or permanently loaded trade van has a different usage brief from an empty delivery vehicle. Include changes to tyres or drivetrain where relevant.

Tell us where the van needs improvement and whether the behaviour is longstanding or new. A sudden loss of pulling power, recurring warning or rising fuel use should trigger a diagnostic discussion first.

Protect the appointment from avoidable downtime

Explain the days the vehicle can be available and whether it can be left at the workshop if required. We check current ECU access before quoting a mobile visit. A controller that needs removal changes the logistics compared with a supported OBD job.

Fleet and trade enquiries should identify each vehicle separately. A shared model name does not prove identical ECU hardware, software or access. Send registrations and the intended work for each vehicle rather than assuming one route covers the whole group.

Include maintenance and emissions-system history

High mileage and sustained work make service condition and fault history useful parts of the enquiry. Share current scans, DPF or SCR/AdBlue warnings, recent repairs and previous programming. Calibration should start from a suitable vehicle.

Torque delivery must suit the gearbox and load. Existing clutch slip or automatic-transmission symptoms need investigating. Economy claims should be considered against comparable routes and measured fuel use, not a fixed fleet-saving percentage.

Quote the complete route

The team confirms calibration, access, agreed checks, location and any travel or extra diagnostic scope. If you want a combined engine and gearbox enquiry, include the exact transmission and its maintenance history.

Book only after availability and the scope are confirmed. Keep the software and service record for future maintenance or dealer updates. Tell the team before a later hardware change or software replacement so the next step can be considered correctly.
