Start the clock with an accepted job

A message asking whether a unit can be cloned is not acceptance of a postal job. The team first needs to check the controller, operation, available parts and scope. Dispatching before that check can leave important questions unresolved while the vehicle is dismantled.

Ask when the accepted assessment or work can start and which parts and files must arrive together. A supported transfer with readable original data may be planned differently from a damaged-unit investigation or protected-access recovery.

Separate assessment from the proposed repair

Some jobs need an assessment before a repair or transfer can be quoted conclusively. Original-data condition, electronic damage and donor suitability may only become clear when the units are checked.

Ask how you will be contacted if the first plan changes. A useful arrangement defines the assessment scope, how further work is approved and what happens if the unit or donor is unsuitable. A fixed completion promise without that information may not describe your actual repair.

Include shipping and installer time

Postal transit takes place outside the controller work itself. Tell us the full return postcode, especially for Highlands and island addresses. Courier options and expected transit should be discussed separately from time on the bench.

Book vehicle-side refitting realistically. Your installer may need coding, adaptation, gearbox commissioning or further diagnostics. Having the controller back does not by itself mean the complete vehicle is ready for collection.

Give the team the deadline and evidence early

If a garage bay, recovery booking or vehicle-use deadline matters, say so before acceptance. We can explain the available arrangements without assuming that every application has the same turnaround.

Send the full scan, labels, originals, donor details and files at the first enquiry. Include a direct contact who can answer scope questions. Preserve the original unit and keep courier tracking until the handover is complete.
