Agree the controller job before arranging transport

Send registration, full postcode, symptoms, diagnostic findings and original / donor labels. A removed-unit job can be useful when the complete vehicle is immobilised far from the workshop, but the scope must suit the actual fault.

If vehicle-side diagnosis remains incomplete, a local garage may need to establish whether the controller is responsible first. Posting a unit cannot replace tests that require the vehicle. We confirm postal acceptance and required parts before dispatch.

Prepare the local installer handover

Identify who will remove and refit the unit and who can complete coding, adaptation or final diagnostic checks where required. Give the garage contact so the electronic scope can be discussed alongside the vehicle repair.

For a gearbox or mechatronic replacement, clarify which assembly and electronics are involved. Mechanical and hydraulic condition remains part of the installer’s job. The controller transfer should not be booked as a substitute for those findings.

Confirm transit and return arrangements by address

Highlands and island shipping should be checked from the full address. Ask about available courier service, expected transit, return carriage and any restrictions affecting the accepted parts.

Controller work and courier transit are separate parts of the timescale. Build the local refitting appointment around the confirmed plan rather than assuming a standard mainland transit or a universal same-day bench service.

Keep the package and evidence complete

Follow the agreed packing instructions, protect connectors and enclose the job reference, registration, direct contact and return address. Mark original and replacement units clearly. Retain photographs and tracked-delivery information.

Include all required parts and available files together so a second long-distance shipment is less likely. Do not send wet or fluid-containing assemblies without instructions. The accepted scope, quote and arrangements are handled through Precision Remaps UK in Burton upon Trent.
