Confirm the parts before removing anything
Begin with registration, symptoms and label photographs. Ask which parts the accepted job requires. An ECU, electronic TCU and complete mechatronic assembly are not interchangeable packing instructions.
For a normal supported original-to-donor transfer, both accepted units are usually needed, but follow the instructions agreed for your application. Do not send keys, security modules, wet parts or complete fluid-containing assemblies unless they have been specifically requested.
Record condition and mark the units clearly
Photograph each label, case and connector before packing. Keep a copy of the original diagnostic report and any programming backups. These records help maintain a clear history if the job needs further discussion.
Mark the units ORIGINAL / OLD and REPLACEMENT / DONOR without covering identification labels or contaminating connectors. Keep each unit separate so they cannot strike one another. Do not rely on two unlabelled identical cases arriving with an email sent earlier.
Protect the electronics and the connectors
Follow the supplied preparation and packing instructions. Appropriate antistatic protection, cushioning and a firm outer box help protect electronics and pins during transit. Prevent movement inside the package and avoid pressure directly on exposed connectors.
Ask about the correct handling of any assembly that can retain fluid. A plastic bag alone does not make a wet or fluid-containing part suitable for dispatch. The required parts and preparation should be settled before booking the courier.
Enclose a clear handover and retain tracking
Include the agreed job reference, your name and direct contact, registration, requested work and full return address. Add the garage name and technician contact if they will receive or refit the controller.
Use the tracked and appropriately insured delivery arrangements agreed for the job. Share the tracking reference and retain it. Return carriage, Highlands or island arrangements and expected transit should be confirmed for the actual address.
