Define what was replaced
State whether the job involves a complete gearbox, a mechatronic assembly or separate controller electronics. Include both identities, the actual gearbox type and the reason for replacement. A used assembly can bring both electronic and physical compatibility questions.
Agree what Precision Remaps UK is being asked to assess or transfer, and what the gearbox specialist is supplying, installing and checking. Keep the original scan and coding record where available. This creates a useful starting point for the commissioning plan.
Follow the procedure for the actual application
The installer uses the applicable manufacturer information and supported diagnostic procedure for the identified transmission. Ross-Tech’s 02E DSG reference, for example, separates coding, basic settings and a defined test drive, with prerequisites for the settings. It illustrates a specific application rather than a procedure for every DSG or ZF unit.
Do not copy a sequence or temperature requirement from a different gearbox page and assume it applies. The variant, software, work performed and relevant conditions must be established by the installer. The electronic quote should identify any commissioning responsibilities that remain after the unit returns.
Record a failed or incomplete procedure clearly
If settings do not complete, preserve the scan, procedure selected, tool message and stage reached. Include the conditions and relevant mechanical or hydraulic findings. Say whether the issue existed before the replacement or appeared during installation.
An incomplete procedure does not by itself establish that cloning must be repeated. Donor suitability, configuration, installation conditions and physical faults may need investigation. Share the evidence so electronic review and transmission diagnosis can be coordinated in the right order.
Finish with a documented handover
The installer completes the appropriate checks on the vehicle and records the final identification, scan and operating result. A verified data write or bench communication check cannot demonstrate every installed gearbox function under load.
For a quote, send the registration, full postcode, both labels, replacement scope and installer’s findings. Precision Remaps UK can confirm the supported electronic work and remaining responsibilities before dispatch. Retain the original controller and reports until the complete repair has been assessed.

Questions about this enquiry
Does TCU cloning include every basic setting on the vehicle?
No. The accepted electronic job and required on-vehicle commissioning are agreed separately.
Do failed basic settings prove the clone is wrong?
Not by themselves. Preserve the evidence so the configuration, installation conditions and transmission findings can be reviewed.
