Identify the actual engine configuration

State the engine code where known and whether the car is naturally aspirated, turbocharged, supercharged or hybrid. The same model badge can cover different powertrains. Registration, model year and original output help the team identify the starting application and check the controller.

An engine without forced induction cannot be assessed by borrowing a boost-based claim from a turbocharged version. There may be supported calibration options, but the potential and practical goal need discussing for the specific engine. Do not use a generic percentage as proof of the result your vehicle will receive.

Discuss the result you actually want

Explain whether the priority is response, delivery, a hardware-specific calibration or verified peak output. A change in pedal feel is different from measured engine power. The quote should make clear which supported behaviour can be addressed and how the agreed work will be checked.

Fuel, condition and existing software remain part of the brief whichever induction system is fitted. State the petrol grade you will use regularly, rather than a grade used only for one measurement. If the engine has a warning, misfire or new loss of performance, begin with diagnosis.

Keep modifications and transmission in the enquiry

List intake, exhaust, engine and fuelling changes accurately. For a forced-induction project, include the turbo or supercharger details and supporting cooling hardware. A collection of parts does not automatically define a tuning stage or establish that the present software is suitable.

Tell the team whether the gearbox is manual or automatic, with servicing and any slip or shift symptoms. Increased demand must be considered alongside drivetrain condition. Supported gearbox calibration is a separate scope, and it is not a repair for wear or an operating fault.

Ask for vehicle-specific estimates and evidence

Use a comparable baseline, power unit and measurement basis when discussing proposed numbers. A graph from another vehicle can illustrate a provider’s work but cannot certify your engine’s output. Distinguish estimated figures from measurements on the actual finished car.

Send the registration, postcode, engine, fuel and desired change to Precision Remaps UK through Northern Calibration. If exact support or a worthwhile outcome is uncertain, the team can explain the options before booking. That discussion is more useful than selecting a stage from a generic gains claim.

Questions about this enquiry

Will a naturally aspirated engine gain the same percentage as a turbo engine?

No universal comparison should be assumed. Potential and support are checked for the actual engine and hardware.

Does a sharper pedal response prove more horsepower?

No. Pedal behaviour and measured output are different results. Ask what the proposed work and evidence cover.
