Identify more than the DSG family
Send the exact gearbox identification, original and donor electronic-unit labels and any diagnostic identification. A DQ family name or the number of gears is not a complete replacement specification.
Include the vehicle registration and whether you are replacing a complete gearbox, mechatronic assembly or controller electronics. Tell us what fault prompted the replacement and which parts your installer has available.
Check support for the replacement operation
The programming route varies between controller generations. Magicmotorsport publishes bench support for selected newer Bosch DQ500 and DQ38x units, with a matching Bosch part-number condition for the stated cloning support. That announcement is not a blanket compatibility rule for every DSG.
We check the actual units and current operation before acceptance. Tuning coverage, a full backup and a compatible replacement route are related questions, but a calibration listing alone does not answer all of them.
Keep electronics and transmission repair in context
Data transfer cannot correct a worn clutch, hydraulic pressure loss or an unsuitable donor assembly. Share the specialist’s findings so the quoted electronic work addresses the right part of the repair.
Where adaptation or basic settings are required, the installer follows the procedure for the exact gearbox. Preconditions and commissioning steps vary; an online procedure for a different generation should not be treated as universal.
Arrange a clear trade or owner handover
For postal work, we confirm whether electronics or a complete accepted assembly is required. Ask about fluid removal and packaging before dispatch. Label each part as original or replacement.
The agreed scope describes the supported transfer and remaining vehicle-side checks. Include your garage name if relevant, a direct technician contact and the return postcode. Owners can use the same enquiry route when working with a local installer.
