Start with the exact vehicle and current software
Map switching is an enquiry about a specific supported implementation, rather than a feature that follows automatically from the words Stage 1 or Stage 2. Send the registration, engine, controller identification and details of the existing calibration.
Tell us whether the car is standard or modified and share the fuel, installed parts and gearbox software. A feature shown on another model cannot establish support for your ECU or its current software. Ask the team to confirm the actual application before planning changes around it.
Describe useful modes in plain language
Explain the purpose of each requested mode: for example, a progressive daily-driving response or a separate brief for an agreed fuel and hardware specification. Describe how you use the vehicle and what you expect to feel. A list of dramatic mode names is less useful than the intended behaviour.
Ask whether the requested differences are meaningful and supportable. Do not assume that a selectable mode makes any fuel, hardware or mechanical condition suitable. The accepted specification and operating requirements must be understood together.
Ask about selection and handover
The quote should explain the available selection method, how the current mode is recognised and any restrictions on changing it. These details are confirmed for the supported implementation; they should not be guessed from a video of a different vehicle.
Ask what the driver needs to remember after an update, battery interruption or later software work. Agree the intended default state, if relevant, and request clear handover information. If more than one person drives the car, make sure each understands the accepted fuel and use requirements.
Keep the enquiry tied to a realistic outcome
A mode label is not evidence of a particular power output. If you want supplied or measured figures compared, state the units and test conditions. Tuning does not correct a mechanical fault, and additional modes do not remove the need for a healthy engine and transmission.
Send the complete mode brief, vehicle details and full postcode to Precision Remaps UK. Current support, calibration scope, necessary access and price are confirmed before booking. For a naturally aspirated or unusual project, discuss the worthwhile result as well as the requested feature.
Send the information that helps.
- Vehicle, engine, exact ECU and current map
- Fuel and complete hardware specification
- Purpose and desired behaviour of each mode
- Questions about selection, default and handover
- Health history, postcode and intended use
Questions about this enquiry
Is map switching available on every remappable ECU?
No. Support and the available implementation must be confirmed for the exact application.
Can I request a mode for a particular fuel?
Describe the fuel and intended use in the enquiry. The team checks whether the proposed calibration and operating brief are suitable.
