Identify the gearbox and both control units
A vehicle model can have different transmission and controller versions. Send the registration, gearbox identification and clear labels from both the original and replacement units. Include separate electronic-unit numbers where present.
Tell us whether the replacement is a complete gearbox, a mechatronic assembly or electronics only. That distinction changes the parts and preparation needed for an accepted postal job. Do not assume every unit carrying the same DSG family name is interchangeable.
Confirm what electronic transfer can cover
Supported work may transfer the vehicle-specific data needed by a compatible replacement. The accessible memories, security information and configuration vary by controller and protocol.
Programming-tool coverage must match the requested operation. Calibration support does not automatically establish cloning support. We check exact unit identity and the proposed donor rather than relying on a general tuning list.
Keep hydraulic and mechanical findings in the job
Cloning does not repair a leaking hydraulic circuit, worn clutch or unsuitable replacement assembly. Send the transmission specialist’s diagnosis and the reason for replacement so the electronics job is scoped in context.
If the original symptom is loss of pressure, slip, judder or inability to complete basic settings, the installer still needs to establish the cause. A warning after replacement may involve installation, compatibility, adaptation or a remaining fault.
Plan the installation before the units leave
Agree which parts to send, whether fluids must be removed and how pins and connectors will be protected. Mark units ORIGINAL and REPLACEMENT and enclose the agreed job information.
Your installer completes the transmission-specific refitting and commissioning procedure. Any required coding, basic settings or adaptation should be understood before dispatch. Include a direct garage contact if a technician is managing the job.
