Confirm the controller route first
A mobile visit is considered after the engine, ECU and software have been identified. A supported OBD job can have different arrangements from work requiring controller removal or protected access. Tell us about previous programming and any software updates.
A vehicle-selector result is a starting enquiry, not a booked visit. The actual controller and required checks determine whether mobile work is suitable. We discuss a workshop or another accepted route when that better fits the application.
Give the full postcode and practical access
Send the location and explain where the vehicle can be worked on. Include parking, site access and any restrictions at home or work. The appointment route and any travel charge are confirmed in the quote.
Northern Calibration has a Burton upon Trent base. Midlands, northern England and Scottish enquiries are checked against the actual job and scheduling. We do not present a list of cities as local branches or promise an immediate visit to every address.
Prepare the vehicle and information
Provide mileage, service history, fuel, gearbox, hardware changes and warning messages. A running fault may need diagnosis before tuning. Ask which pre-appointment checks are relevant rather than clearing codes to make the dashboard look ready.
Have the vehicle details and current software history available. If there is an existing map, describe it and keep any original files or paperwork. The team explains the agreed preparation and access requirements before the visit.
Agree availability and the whole price
The quotation confirms work, required access, agreed checks, location, applicable VAT and any travel or additional diagnostic costs. An enquiry does not hold an appointment until arrangements are confirmed.
For a non-running or extensively modified vehicle, describe that condition before requesting a routine mobile remap. The practical first step could be diagnosis or a dedicated workshop plan. Tell us your preferred dates and any acceptable alternative route.
