Identify the variant before discussing access
MD1 and MG1 enquiries need the full controller identity. Include a readable label, vehicle specification and diagnostic identification where available. Hardware revisions, software and the required operation can affect access.
A statement that a model can be remapped is not confirmation that a replacement controller can be cloned. Tell us whether you need calibration, unlocking, original-software recovery or identity transfer so the support check answers the right question.
Selected access through professional tooling
Precision Remaps UK uses Flex, Korhex, Autotuner and KESS3 for applicable work. Selected BMW / MINI and Mercedes protected-controller enquiries are checked against the actual unit and available procedure.
In-house equipment does not mean universal coverage. Some jobs require removal or an additional access procedure, and the supported workflow can differ from the one used for a calibration-only write. Confirmation comes before the booking or dispatch.
Keep the available files and history
For recovery, preserve the original read, attempted writes, identification results and tool logs. Explain whether the fault followed an update, failed programming or an electrical event.
For replacement, include original and donor labels and the original unit’s condition. Recoverability of the necessary information and suitability of the donor are separate parts of the assessment. A protected ECU family name alone settles neither.
Get an application-specific plan
Send registration, postcode and the intended outcome. We confirm the parts, access work, quote and expected arrangements for the identified application rather than offering one promise across MD1 and MG1.
For a removed-unit job, discuss postal acceptance before sending. For on-vehicle programming or diagnosis, the route depends on access requirements and location. Any remaining coding, adaptation or software handover is included in the agreed scope.
