Describe the installed specification
Stage 2 is a commonly used description for calibration with supporting hardware changes. It is not a universal package shared by every engine. Send the make and specification of the fitted parts, installation history and any existing software.
An intake, intercooler or exhaust change can mean different things on different vehicles. We review what the upgrades are intended to achieve, which limitations remain and whether the proposed target is appropriate. Keep original emissions equipment requirements in the discussion for a road car.
Check that the hardware works as intended
Recent installation does not prove that a system is leak-free, correctly controlled or adequately cooled. Explain any changes in response, noise, temperature or fault codes since the parts were fitted. Include relevant diagnostic findings and logs that your installer already has.
Calibration should follow a sound installation. If there is a fault, the first agreed step may be diagnosis or correction rather than increasing output. A revised file should not be used to disguise a poor mechanical result.
Match fuel and transmission to the target
Tell us the petrol grade or diesel use, the transmission and any clutch or gearbox upgrades. Thermal behaviour and sustained use matter alongside a short peak-power figure. A daily road car and a heavily loaded vehicle need different conversations.
Engine and supported gearbox work can be discussed together. Changes to torque strategy must suit the actual transmission and condition. A transmission map does not turn worn parts into an uprated drivetrain.
Allow for a fuller verification scope
Modified hardware can need more identification, logging and calibration review than a straightforward standard-hardware appointment. Send previous files, tuner details and test results where available. The team confirms the feasible work and the checks required before accepting it.
The quote separates calibration and access from any additional investigation or hardware work. Ask which checks are included and whether further measurement is needed. Northern Calibration does not present another company’s dyno chart as evidence of your result.
