Define the project before choosing a stage

A Stage 3 enquiry usually involves a more substantial hardware change, such as an upgraded turbo and supporting components. The label alone says little about the finished specification. Send exact part names, sizes or manufacturer references and your installer’s plan.

Include engine-internal changes, fuel-system work, cooling, intake and exhaust configuration, sensors, transmission and clutch. State what is already fitted and what is only planned. A quote for a completed specification cannot be assumed to cover a later parts change.

Set the operating goal

Describe the vehicle’s use and the fuel it will run. Is the priority road response, sustained use, a particular power target or another application? The useful discussion covers the delivery of torque and the operating range as well as the peak number.

Ask for the feasibility of the complete package. A requested figure does not prove the turbo, fuel supply, cooling or drivetrain can support it appropriately. We confirm whether the proposed calibration work and verification can be accepted.

Bring the history and evidence

Send existing software details, original files where available, diagnostic scans and any measured results or logs. Explain recent faults and how they were investigated. A project arriving with an unknown file and an incomplete parts list needs a different starting scope.

The installer’s findings help distinguish calibration work from a hardware problem. Repairs, component selection and installation remain separate from the agreed software job unless specifically included.

Agree a staged work plan

Extensive projects may need dedicated appointments and further measurement rather than a standard mobile visit. The team agrees access, investigation, calibration and review steps before acceptance. Enquiring does not book a project or promise a final figure.

Confirm who is responsible for vehicle preparation and the final handover checks. If the specification changes after quotation, share the change before proceeding. A clear record helps both the installer and the calibration team work from the same vehicle brief.
